The Other I by Zohra Zoberi

Zohra Zoberi’s book The Other I takes the reader on two journeys, one physical and one emotional.
Married at 16 to an older man, a professor, Zohra makes a journey into a new life, new countries, and new cultures. The author hungers for education and knowledge, and eagerly explores new ideas, diverse cultures, and unfamiliar countries. Often, she lives in two different cultures simultaneously, struggling with the disadvantages, and attempting to reap the benefits of both cultures.
As she grows and matures, she builds friendships, develops and improves new skills, and soon uses her new knowledge and skills to enhance her life and the lives of family and friends.
History and geography are subtly woven into this story, and as I read, I frequently paused to research both the past and other countries.
The Other I has a cast of interesting and diverse characters, and family and friend pictures brings individuals to life.
The book is enhanced by Zohra’s own poetry, by lush descriptions, and gently amusing language.
