{"id":1716,"date":"2016-12-03T14:53:32","date_gmt":"2016-12-03T19:53:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wenetwork.ca\/site\/?p=1716"},"modified":"2016-12-11T11:11:47","modified_gmt":"2016-12-11T16:11:47","slug":"second-annual-joseph-smerdelj-short-story-contest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wenetwork.ca\/site\/second-annual-joseph-smerdelj-short-story-contest\/","title":{"rendered":"Second Annual Joseph Smerdelj Short Story Contest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here are the guidelines for the Second Joseph Smerdelj Short Story Contest. \u00a0The deadline is January 1st, 2017 so get your entries in as soon as you can.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Topic: Open<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Submission Requirements:\u00a0 Open to WEN members ONLY<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\u00a0entries must be original, unpublished fiction or non-fiction, typed and double-spaced, between 500 and 2,000 words (excluding the title) using Times New Roman 12 font.<\/li>\n<li>Stories that have been published in all other formats , such as blogs, newsletters, on-line groups are considered previously published. The authors retain their copyright, but first-print rights are granted to WEN for the anthology.<\/li>\n<li>The contest deadline is 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on January 1, 2017 (e-datestamp or postmark) . Late submissions will not be considered.<\/li>\n<li>Entries will be judged anonymously. The author\u2019s name should not appear anywhere in the story. Authors can submit only one entry.<\/li>\n<li>Submission should be sent via email as a Word file to <a href=\"mailto:communications@wenetwork.ca\">communications@wenetwork.ca<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0 Entries must be accompanied by a separate cover sheet with the author&#8217;s name, complete mailing address, email , phone number, the title of the piece, and the word count.<\/li>\n<li>There is a $10 fee for the entry.
