He is currently Humber’s Dean of Creative and Performing Arts and is a recipient of numerous awards for teaching and innovation. His first novel,\u00a0Winter Tulips<\/em>, won the Stephen Leacock Award for Humour.\u00a0Boardwalk<\/em>, his second novel, and two children’s books,\u00a0The Gift\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0The Red Corduroy Shirt<\/em>, met with critical acclaim.<\/p>\n

His novel,\u00a0Gratitude<\/em>, won a Canadian National Jewish Book Award and the U.S. National Jewish Book Award for Fiction.\u00a0Kertes has also been a finalist for a National Magazine Award and the CBC\u00a0Literary Award.<\/p>\n
